REFUND POLICY
Membership
No refund on Membership Fees. Because of licensing and administration processes, we regret we are unable to refund any membership fees for any reason.
Programs & classes
Refunds for classes & recreational programs will be issued up until the beginning of the third class, at a prorated rate, regardless of the participant being present. There is a 20% Administration Fee applied on all refund requests up to a maximum of $35.00. After the beginning of the third class, no refunds will be issued.
If the member chooses to leave the refund amount as a credit on their account, the Administration Fee will be waived. Unused credits will expire after three years.
Please note: All refunds are issued by cheque and may take up to 4 to 6 weeks for processing.
Facility Rentals
Facility rentals refund policy applies based on the date cancellation request is received by the facility booking staff:
Two weeks' notice – Full refund will be received, less 10% administration fee.
One to Two weeks' notice – Full refund will be received, less 20% administration fee.
Less than One weeks' notice – No refund will be issued. Gym rental cancellations due to inclement weather reported within 48 hours of the cancellation date will be accepted. In such cases, a credit for the missed date will be kept on the account for future use. If rescheduling cannot be mutually coordinated by the end of the season, a full refund will be issued at that time
NOTE: Renters are required to pay a damage deposit ($200 to $500) to secure facility rentals.
Cancellations
From time to time, cancellation of a course may be necessary due to:
- Insufficient registration to run the program
- The centre being closed and an alternative location not being available
- The instructor has a conflict with a specific date and a replacement instructor cannot be found
- There is a scheduling conflict in specific rooms or,
- We are experiencing severe weather conditions which has resulted in road closures and the ability of the instructor or the majority of participants to travel to the centre.
In the event of severe weather conditions, road closures or emergency facility closure, participants will be contacted as soon as possible.

SOCAN Fees
SOCAN (the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) requires users of music to have a license to play music at receptions, conventions, assemblies and fashion shows. This per-event fee is based on room capacity and is charged in addition to the facility rental rate. For more information regarding these fees, visit www.socan.ca.
CLASS POLICIES
Participation in any MARKHAM WESLEY CENTRE (MWC hereafter) activities and/or using any of its recreational facilities may involve a risk of accidental injury, despite all safety precautions. Having been informed of the activities to be conducted by MWC, I/WE, as an individual, or as a parent or guardian of the participants named herein, assume all risks and hazards incidental to the activities, and release MWC from responsibility and agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless (including the payment of attorney's fees) MWC, its officers, directors, independent contractors, volunteers and all employees for any illness, death or injury to me, or my children, or family members occurring during his/her/our participation in any activities, or use of any recreational facilities, at or conducted by MWC.
